Our Ministries
“Let us practice the fine art of making every work a priestly ministration. Let us believe that God is in all our simple deeds and learn to find Him there.”

Our Outreach Ministries
Service Ministry
This ministry focuses on building projects to serve the Starnes Cove community and includes but isn’t limited to things such as small home projects, yard work, our our annual Operation In As Much day, as well as occasionally partnering with ABCCM on some projects. Please contact Seth Brock for more details about this ministry.

SVH Backpack Program
Our CrossTrainers Youth Ministry provides bags of nonperishable food items, and are distributed to children in need at Sand Hill Venable Elementary School. If you’d like to find out more about this ministry, email us at starnescovebc@gmail.com

Homeless Outreach
When cold weather settles in, our Young Adult Sunday School class holds an annual drive to receive donated coats, blankets, socks, gloves, and hats to distribute to the homeless in downtown Asheville. Please contact Seth or Angel Brock, or Lee Pegram for more details about this ministry, or email us if you would like to find out how you can help donate or serve.
Benevolence Ministry
We financially support and actively serve with the Asheville-Buncombe County Christian Ministry (ABCCM) which serves the needs of low-income residents in the broader Asheville area. ABCCM operates a women’s shelter, a veterans home, food pantries, and kitchens, as well as providing crisis counseling, and operating a free medical and dental clinic. Those in need or those interested in volunteering may contact our church office. For more information visit contact us, or call the church office.
The Great Commission Team
The Great Commission Team is our team dedicated to going out into the world, on Mission Trips and Projects, in order to spread the Gospel of Jesus Christ, and help others come to know Him. Please contact Glen Martin for more information on how you can join this team.
Seasonal Ministries
Vacation Bible School
Join us for a week of fun during the summertime at our annually themed Vacation Bible School— we have classes for all ages! SCBC is one of the few churches in the area that still holds a full-length VBS, held in the mornings rather than the evenings. Please contact Lee or Meghann Pegram for more information about this ministry!

Live Nativity
Every year in December, our Kids Cove children’s ministry gets all dressed up, and puts on an outdoor production of the night of Jesus’ birth. We typically have hot cocoa and cider, outdoor seating and heaters, and the music throughout the production is sung by our choir, and narrated by someone in the church as well.
Summer Kids
Similar to our Kids Cove program that runs during the Buncombe County School year, we also have a summer program that runs during the summertime, where the kids play lots of fun games and activities, and learn about Jesus! Please contact Allison Merrell or Emma Martin, or the church office to learn more about this program!
